An exercise that we used to do in college was to find a product with poorly designed packaging and redesign it. We were taught the importance of putting the design to a story, which helps to move the design along and unite the product and brand with the packaging.

The meaning of the name Bellino (the brand name) is handsome in Italian. My goal was to create a package that showed off the product more successfully and to make the design cohesive with the brand name. This package design is a play or an abstraction of a tuxedo. The black and white was used to channel the classic tuxedo, as well as to make the green of the pesto really pop off the shelf.
